Life be Lifeing

So, it’s been a while—because life has been a lot. Not-so-great in some ways, but wonderful in others. Today, I just want to catch you up on what’s been going on during this wildly long break I took from blogging (believe me, I wasn’t happy about it!). I had every intention of showing up here every week, but with everything else going on, this blog had to take a backseat. That said—we're back, we're flowing, and changes are coming. Let's catch up.

Yes, this is my dog… and yes he is adorable!

My Lil Experiment

I had an in-person callback recently and decided to treat the experience like a little experiment. Walking into CP Casting, I made a decision ahead of time: I was going to show up as the version of me that already has the "it" factor. I wouldn’t get too nervous or overly excited—just stay neutral, present, and grounded. Booking the job wasn’t even the goal. The goal was training my brain to handle these moments better and better.

When I walked in, I committed to that mindset. I saw a friend from a past job, which gave me a little confidence boost. In the waiting room, I observed the energy. One girl, dressed perfectly for the part, was hunched over with nerves—all internal energy. I recognized it because that used to be me. But not anymore.

Instead, I sat calmly. I kept my body language open. When my foot started to bob nervously, I told myself to be still. I breathed. I stayed present. And when they called my name, I walked in with a big smile, eye contact, and grounded energy.

The first teleprompter read was way too fast—I felt like I was flying through the script and lost the last few lines. A little embarrassing, but no big deal. They adjusted it... and then it was comically slow. Eventually, we got it right.

I had already decided I would focus on the positive feedback, and not obsess over anything negative. And that’s exactly what I did. The casting team told me they appreciated that I made choices, even if they weren’t quite right for the character. They said every read I gave was strong, authentic, and showed I was directable. That’s a win in my book. Even though I didn’t book the role, I walked out of that room proud. It was a huge mindset win, and I proved to myself I can show up grounded in high-pressure moments.

Reviewing Your Progress

And here we are—already through Q1 of the year. I’ve started doing quarterly reviews for myself as an actor, just like I do in my business. I take inventory of what went well, what didn’t, and where I want to grow.

Q1 Wins:

  • Got a callback and did well (see above)

  • Attended a model workshop and got some amazing digitals (photos coming soon!)

  • Started this blog (!!)

  • Worked on branding materials for my acting career

  • Lost weight and finally feel like my inside matches the outside

  • Started to like how I look on camera (huge)

  • Wrote script ideas for some shorts I want to film this year

  • Had a bunch of great auditions

Q1 Lessons:

  • I need to invest more time in myself and my acting business

  • I want to post more, blog more, and stay visible

  • I’m a better model than I thought I was

  • I need an acting coach for accountability and growth

  • I don’t give myself enough credit for how far I’ve come

  • I deserve to celebrate myself—whenever, however, I want

Looking ahead to Q2:

  • Book new headshots & refresh marketing materials (already reaching out to photographers!)

  • Work with an acting coach to sharpen my skills

  • Rework my reel so I feel proud of every clip

  • Get clear on the actions and backup plans that will support these goals

A Little Encouragement (for you, my friend)

Also… let’s be real. We’re a quarter of the way into the year and I haven’t booked an acting or modeling job yet. That wasn’t on my Q1 list, but I’d be lying if I said it didn’t cross my mind. Should I say it out loud? Should I share that I haven’t booked yet? YES. Because this blog is about honesty. This is my glow up year, and not booking doesn’t derail that. It’s okay to have seasons without bookings. That just means the right opportunity is still on the way.

And if you’re in the same boat—know this: it’s okay. Something better is coming.

Mindset reminder before we wrap: I’ve worked on some rough sets. Some gigs that were just... not it. I would rather go two quarters without a booking than take three jobs that drain me or treat me poorly. I trust that the right job is on the radar, and if it hasn’t shown up yet, it’s because the next one is going to be even better.

A Girl Gotta Celebrate!

One last thing before we go: I got my model digitals back, y’all—and I’m so proud. They turned out incredible and I can’t wait to share them. I’ll be submitting to agencies with these soon, and I feel like they capture exactly where I am right now.

Final Thoughts for You

Your glow-up doesn’t depend on a single job—it’s built on mindset, momentum, and showing up anyway.

That’s it for today’s post. Thanks for being here. This year is just getting started, and the best is yet to come. If today’s post lit something up in you, share it with a fellow dreamer, and let’s glow up together—one bold move at a time.

Until next time, keep showing up and keep dreaming bigger. Your glow up is unfolding—one bold move at a time
